Seven years ago this morning, I was getting ready for jury duty when I heard on the radio that there was a fire at the World Trade Center. I turned on the Today show and sat for a couple of hours in disbelief. Jury duty was cancelled.
Our first daughter was due in a little over a month and every though imaginable ran through my mind. I wondered not only what was going to happen to us but also what world we were bringing a child into.
The next morning, jury duty happened as scheduled. Our daughter was born October 30th and will be 7 this year. Slowly, we all got back to normal. The flags that covered everything came down and life went on but it has not returned to how it was on September 10, 2001.
Now I know what my grandmother meant when she talked of Pearl Harbor and I wonder - what will be my kids 9/11?
